MILWAUKEE – Adeiny Hechavarria's withdrawal from his minor league contract and Dominic Smith's lack of relative time prompted the Mets to change their lineup of 25 players on Friday.
Smith had been opted for Triple-A Syracuse and Hechavarria's contract had been chosen. Veteran Hechavarria will give the Mets a legitimate backup option at the short stop, which was recently missing.
