CNN presenter Don Lemon called President Joe Biden a “big guy” during the presidential town hall on Wednesday night.

During the town hall, which took place in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lemon asked Biden about his experience as “the big guy.”

“You’ve been the big guy for six months now in the White House. Can you take us behind the scenes, something extraordinary or unusual that happened that left its mark on you?” Lemon asked.

“The big guy” was notably used as a reference to Biden in an email thread allegedly involving Joe’s son Hunter Biden in the process of making a deal with a Chinese energy company. In 2020, Fox News confirmed the authenticity of an email dated May 13, 2017 that detailed a discussion of “compensation packages” for those involved in a trade deal. One section of the email contained a property division that read “10 owned by H for the big guy?” Which was later confirmed to refer to Joe Biden.

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, RN.Y. also pointed out this connection by tweeting, “Wow. Even Don Lemon knows Joe Biden is the ‘Big Guy’! #HuntersEmails.”

Hunter Biden was listed once during mayoralty when Joe said he was “proud” of his son. Scandals surrounding Hunter Biden have often been underestimated by the media, with past examples being labeled “Russian disinformation.”

Whether Lemon intends to refer to the emails or not, various Twitter users have criticized Lemon’s performance as town hall moderator.

Republican Senator from Tennessee Marsha Blackburn tweeted: “Don Lemon is not a reporter. He is an activist. #BidenTownhall.”

Donald Trump’s advisor Jenna Ellis also wrote, “Don Lemon is of course not a journalist. He is an activist and a political hacker. Obama himself told Jake Tapper – that he” quit journalism altogether “to join CNN. Roll on the floor laughing.”
