Donald Mustard of Epic says that Fortnite Reaper's skin is not Keanu Reeves

E3 2019It is the hour of the biggest game show of the year. We have articles, videos, podcasts and maybe even a GIF or two.

Fortnite has an official skin of John Wick, but before his arrival, Keanu Reeves seemed to be present in the game in the form of a skin at the end of season 3 called the Reaper. The Reaper was not officially Reeves nor his action movie character, but a lot Like him. Epic Creative Director Donald Mustard said at today's E3 meeting that the resemblance was unintentional.

Mustard took the stage today with Geoff Keighley and Chad Stahelski, the director of the film John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. The panel, titled "Storytelling Across Screens," was partly about the fact that Epic was bringing John Wick to Fortnite through an official skin and a John Wicklimited-time theme, Wick's Bounty. Stahelski said that the Epic team had approached him after John Wick 2, looking for collaboration. Mustard then stated that Reaper's resemblance to Keanu Reeves was not only unintentional, but that she had taken Reeves by surprise.

Mustard explained:

I found myself in a place where Keanu and I were together, talking about some things, and we said, "What if it makes sense?" [Keanu] was in, mostly because we have this character in Fortnite called The Reaper who a littleIt was not intentional! For me, we were just trying to create this awesome The Man In Black. But [Keanu] was starting to have all these kids come to him, all those teenagers in the street, and they were not doing the normal "Oh, you're Neo, oh you're Wick." They did, "Fortnite guys! Fortnite guys!" [Keanu]It's like "Where is it?" Fortnite And of course he says, "It does not look like me, it's not me," and he says, "We have to do things right." So I think it's when we [gestures to Stahleski] met … It seemed inevitable and gave the impression that we were going to do something together.

I'll be honest: I do not know if I buy it, but I make I want to know more about why Keanu Reeves and Donald Mustard were hanging out. You can watch the explanation (and the rest of the panel) in the video below.
