There's a thread of consistency in Trump's messages to the American people over the last four years, it's this: the media is corrupt, they did not want my victory, they did not want not of my success and they would do anything. in their power to ensure this result.

It follows that Trump is already laying the groundwork to blame the media if he loses in 2020. He would have won easily if he had received positive media coverage! His loss is not really a loss, as he has won by proving that the media is so corrupt! Etc.

A little dig shows that Trump a) has already evoked other similar excuses for his low approval figures and b) his assessment of where he would be without the so-called " false news "is good, far away.

Just last month, Trump accused the special adviser Robert Mueller of the investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election because of the state of its results. "Without the ILLEGALE witch hunt, the numbers in my polls, especially because of our" big "economy, would be 65%," he tweeted. "Too bad! The biggest hoax in American history."

So, what is it? The Mueller probe or the terrible media? Chicken and egg? Six from one, half a dozen from the other?

Then there is the idea that Trump's approval rating would be in the mid-1960s without negative media coverage and / or the Mueller inquiry. Which is, well, absurd. According to Gallup figures, Barack Obama reached those highs only during the first months of his first term. George W. Bush got the approval of 90% immediately after the attacks of September 11, 2001, but spent most of the second half of his presidency well below 50%. Trump has NEVER exceeded 50% approval all of weekly approval of follow-up Gallup polls since his election.
To be clear: There is no doubt that Trump's presidential coverage was largely influenced by what Trump would consider negative. But a) this cover is the result of a president who has a finger that stings on Twitter, a penchant for the frantic turn and an anarchic approach to his work and b) it is not clear that the blanket Trump's what drives his negatives as opposed to the president himself.

Whatever the truth, you can bet that Trump will continue to argue that he would easily win his race for reelection if the "false information" covered him even more or less equally. And that eventually he will lose, he will leave his defeat – assuming that he recognizes it at all – at the feet of a media outlet that has spent four years trying to "take it".

Trump hate to lose, that's why he will refuse to do it. Or at least accept it if that happens.
