He would call it the “Patriot Party,” echoing the names and rhetoric of many far-right militant groups across the country who support it. Trump is said to have said he potentially hopes to use his own party as a means of continuing to exert influence over national politics even after he leaves office and Washington, DC. How much news of the Trump company is unclear. News of his plans for a new party comes after he attacked Republican leaders who blamed him for the Jan.6 riot on Capitol Hill. On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said Trump had “caused” the insurgency.
