Donald Trump Jr urged Elon Musk to create his own social media platform that can ‘blow up Twitter’ and save ‘free speech in America’ as he complained about his father’s permanent ban from microblogging site after the siege of the US Capitol.
Donald Trump’s eldest son slammed Twitter for what he called its “biased” and “one-sided” censorship, and urged the SpaceX chief to create a rival social networking site that provides a platform to “neural arbiters”, apparently categorizing her father as such.
“I wanted to find something to deal with the censorship nonsense that’s going on right now and visibly targeted in a way,” Mr. Trump said. “Why isn’t Elon Musk creating a social media platform?
“This guy put men in space. He did it in private. He took big government and did it better, cheaper, faster than they ever could. He’s the guy to do it, ”he said in the video clip shared to Instagram Tuesday night.
Don Jr said he sees Mr. Musk as the right person to take a stand against Twitter after the tech mogul turned to “West Coast high tech” to become “the de facto arbiter of freedom of speech”. His comments came after Amazon, Apple and Google blacklisted the right-wing social media network Speak.
Twitter and Facebook also permanently banned the outgoing president on Jan.8 after his supporters marched on the U.S. Capitol – at his request – before storming police and rioting inside the Capitol. The attack left five people dead, including a policeman.
“Someone like him has the genius to come up with something that blows Twitter away,” Mr. Trump said of Mr. Musk.
He suggested that the new platform can regulate against hate speech or violence, but at the same time provide a platform for neutral commentators and not turn into a “left organization” that dismantles people with conservative thoughts.
“I’m not looking for a conservative echo chamber, I want a platform to argue my ideas against someone else’s and not just people in a place telling me what I want to hear,” he said. Mr Trump said.
He showed dismay and shock at Russian opposition leaders who spoke at a recent debate on US tech giants and censorship, saying that “the Russians are teaching the America on Free Speech Today. That’s how scary it has become ”.
“Elon why don’t you do that.” Go out and imagine a concept. I think you are literally the guy who saves free speech in America, ”he said, while concluding without evidence that the new Biden administration would“ trample on free speech ”in the country for achieve its political goals.
