A pro-Trump group is being sued by a donor for breaking promises to overturn election results in favor of President Trump.

Fred Eshelman sued Houston-based True the Vote Inc. for $ 2.5 million – the sum of a number of donations made to the organization – for “vague answers, platitudes and empty promises” which he said he received after learning about efforts to investigate the alleged voter fraud.
True the Vote has pledged to “investigate, plead and denounce suspicions of illegal voting and fraud in the 2020 general election.”
The group has filed lawsuits in several battlefield states and gathered statements from whistleblowers claiming to have witnessed attempts to prevent the legal vote count.

These efforts were aimed at reinforcing unsubstantiated claims amid President Trump’s ongoing legal battles, who claimed widespread electoral fraud cost him the race against Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
But Eshelman’s lawsuit, filed in federal court in Houston on Wednesday, claims his donations were in vain and the group did not inform him of the state of the election battle, so he demanded his money, according to the reports. Bloomberg reports.

Eshelman said in the complaint that True the Vote offered him $ 1 million if he refused to sue, Bloomberg notes.
Eshelman is the former CEO of Pharmaceutical Development and Founding Chairman of Furiex Pharmaceuticals.
