USC fans are wondering if Kedon Slovis will be healthy enough to play next week against Oregon State. If he IS healthy enough, that prompts another question: Will Jaxson Dart be named a starter even though Slovis can play? We have a real quarterback controversy at USC following Saturday’s win over Washington State. Head coach Donte Williams has a decision to make.
After the victory over Washington State, Williams addressed the status of Slovis in a way that provided good news on Slovis’s health. Whether that means Slovis will be the starting quarterback next Saturday night against Oregon State remains to be seen.
This sets up a familiar scenario for USC fans who remember very clearly that Slovis himself was a quarterback who replaced an injured starter, performed well in a relief role and retained the position of departure. His teammate never got the green light again. Slovis moved injured starter JT Daniels from QB1’s spot on the USC roster in 2019. Daniels was eventually transferred to Georgia, where he is now the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback contending for the national title.
Interim HC Donte Williams says USC QB Kedon Slovis will be able to train this week and “we’ll go from there”.
