Update [Fri 20th Nov, 2020 04:30 GMT]: Surprise, surprise – the physical version of Doom Eternal for Nintendo Switch has been canceled. This game will now be a “digital only” version. Here’s a full response from Bethesda:

While Doom Eternal is 100% on track for an imminent digital release on Nintendo Switch, the lack of a physical retail version has resulted in the cancellation of pre-orders. Affected customers will receive a full refund and should contact their preferred dealer for more information. Stay tuned for more information to come later this month. “

Original article [Fri 20th Nov, 2020 04:00 GMT]: GameStop reportedly called customers who had pre-ordered Eternal doom for Nintendo Switch to let them know that the game has been canceled. Bethesda Twitter support account addressed this problem with the following answer:

“We haven’t made any announcements about canceling Doom Eternal for Switch.”

Has that early release really been removed on the hybrid platform? We think it will be very good. While Bethesda’s post doesn’t really clarify much, GoNintendo’s Kevin Cassidy was much more candid, explaining how the issues could just be tied to the physical release of the game.

“While I can’t say details at this time, and I also can’t say specifically who gave me the information, I will say I have 99.9% reason to believe that DOOM Eternal on Switch is alive and well. All I can say is that my reason for believing the game is not being canceled comes from an official source close to the project. If there’s any truth in this GameStop news, maybe it has to do with the physical release plans, and not the game as a whole. “

If you’re still concerned, back in September, id Software’s Marty Stratton mentioned how “very close” Doom Eternal for Switch was to release.
