Door chains of the delimitation commission open in the wall of the private borders

GoFundMe Border Wall Leader Brian Kolfage overcame skeptical donors, an unfortunate local licensing office and even GoFundMe himself in his attempt to build a privately funded border wall in New Mexico.

The wall of Kolfage is now facing another formidable obstacle: a padlock holding an open gate in its wall.

Since Monday, a portal in the Kolfage border wall has been locked by the International Boundary and Water Commission. In response, Kolfage urged his supporters to call the IBWC to ask them to "Close the portal".

The IBWC, a binational commission that administers border and water rules between the United States and Mexico, has no problem with the Kolfage Wall as long as it is built on private property, depending on the door -speaker Lori Kuczmanski.

However, earlier this month, the Kolfage group built a gateway across federal lands, although it did not get the necessary permits. The door blocks access to both a border market and prevents IBWC employees from performing maintenance work in a nearby flood plain.

"They basically took us out of our own property," Kuczmanski said.

The Kolfage group, We Build the Wall, did not respond to requests for comment.

On Monday, after several days of inability to access the border because the gate was locked, IBWC personnel linked it to open it. Kolfage raged on Twitter, encouraging his fans to flood the IBWC with calls to "#CloseTheGate". He also accused the Commissioner of the IBWC Jayne Harkins, Appointed by Trump, to ensure that the Department of Homeland Security "is at hand."

Since then, Kuczmanski said that the IBWC was besieged by hundreds of angry appeals from Kolfage supporters accusing them of keeping the door open to immigrants.

"We do not have social media, so there is no way for me to answer all that," Kuczmanski said.

Kuczmanski likened the door to someone who was going to a house that did not belong to them, building a fence around and enclosing people inside.

"This is just not acceptable," Kuczmanski said.

Kolfage's calls for an inquiry into IBWC as a "UN-like" agency clearly differ from his mood with regard to the commission just a few weeks ago. At the time, Kolfage claimed that the IBWC was at its side.

In a previous licensing dispute with the government of neighboring Sunland Park, Kolfage had insisted that the Trump administration had asked the IBWC to support the wall.

Despite Kolfage's complaint, Kuczmanski said no member of the Trump administration had made the call. The White House did not respond to requests for comment.
