“just set up my twttr” – the very first tweet on the platform goes on sale after Twitter boss Jack Dorsey listed his famous post as a unique digital signature on a website to sell tweets as Non-fungible tokens (NFT).
The message, sent from Dorsey’s account in March 2006, received offers on Friday of up to $ 88,888.88 minutes after the Twitter co-founder tweeted a link to the list on “ Valuables by Cent – a market for tweets.

Old offers for the tweet suggest it went on sale in December, but the listing gained more attention after Dorsey’s tweet on Friday.
NFTs are digital files that serve as digital signatures to certify who owns photos, videos and other media online.
15-year-old Dorsey’s tweet is one of the most famous tweets to ever appear on the platform and may cause bidders to pay a premium price for digital memorabilia. The highest bid for the tweet was $ 100,000 at 0125 GMT on Saturday.
Launched three months ago, Valuables compares buying tweets to buying an autographed baseball card. “There is only one signed version of the tweet, and if the creator agrees to sell, you can own it forever.”

The buyer of a tweet will receive an autographed digital certificate, signed using cryptography, which will include metadata from the original tweet, according to the Valuables website. The tweet will continue to be available on the Twitter website.
