The status of Joel Embiid, star of the Philadelphia 76ers, for the first game of the playoff series of the first round of the team against the Nlyn Brooklyn remains in limbo.
He was officially declared "doubtful" for managing Saturday's match charge – left knee pain.
"I have no idea," Embiid told the press when he asked him if he would be able to play against Brooklyn when the series start Saturday at 2:30 pm. AND on ESPN at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Expressing himself before he was a partial participant in Friday's training, Embiid admitted that he was feeling a growing pain in his left knee, and said his ability to open the series against the Nets will be determined by the manageability of the pain – – an admission that it would not be painless.
"It's about the pain in my knee," said Embiid. "I just have to keep working on it and see how I feel every day."
With some of the best players in the league heading to a free agency in July, the playoffs will create an extra layer of stress.
Sixers general manager Elton Brand told reporters, before the season finale Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls, that it was "possible" that Embiid was not ready for the start of the series eliminating the team.
The missing time for Embiid has become a recurring theme for the Sixers over the past two months. After missing only four of the team's first 60 games leading up to the All-Star break, Embiid, who scored 27.5 points and averaged 13.4 rebounds in 64 regular-season games, played only eight of the 22 games played since The first eight games that followed the all-star game, where he played 23 minutes, and five of the last seven games of the team in the regular season.
He made it clear Friday that his decision would be to play or not.
"It's my decision because it's me who feels the pain and that's my body," said Embiid. "[The team is] I will do everything in my power to prepare and be healthy, but if my body does not respond to the level of pain, you really can not do anything. "
Jonah Bolden is considered questionable for the opening match after suffering a left knee injury, although Jimmy Butler is ready to play after missing four of the last six games due to a back injury.
