The show followed the life of the Crawley family, owners of a vast English country estate in the early 20th century, and their servants.

Although some scenes are shot in studios and at different locations, the cast and crew spend much of their time at Highclere Castle – which is the home of the 8th count and the countess of Carnavaron, whose family has lived there since 1679.

The cast reunited for the 2019 movie Downton Abbey, which continued the story where the series left off.

The film saw beloved characters Robert (Hugh) and Cora Crawley (Elizabeth McGovern) say that they will be visited by the King and Queen and that the estate must prepare for the royal visit.

However, the family faces a number of setbacks and issues along the way, including an alleged assassination attempt.

The film was a surprise box office success, earning $ 96.8 million domestically and $ 237.8 million globally, on a budget of just $ 13 million.

The actor told Zoe he saw a script for the film and added, “The planets are going around in circles. They are starting to line up.

“There’s a thing called coronavirus that’s hitting and until it’s reasonably brought under control, we won’t be able to get all of these ducks in a row.”

He added: “But there is definitely the intention to do it. We would like to do it. We are desperate to do it.

Hugh also said he believed audiences would “enjoy” another Downton movie after the “mess we’ve been through” last year.
