More than 70 former Republican national security officials from multiple administrations are running to support Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden – the latest of a number of former GOP officials and lawmakers to back the former vice president.

“While we – like all Americans – had hoped that Donald Trump would govern wisely, he disappointed millions of voters who trusted him and demonstrated that he is dangerously unfit for another term,” the communicated. Friday, says the Wall Street Journal.

FORMER SENIOR TRUMP ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL FILES SUBMITTED

Among the officials in the Trump administrations, George W. Bush, George HW Bush, and Reagan, are former CIA chief and former national security adviser General Michael Hayden, former Assistant Secretary of State John Negroponte and other officials and members of Congress.

Former Trump officials who signed include former Homeland Security chief of staff Miles Taylor, who posted a video announcing his support for Biden earlier this week, and former DHS general counsel John Mitnick.

The group goes on to say that Biden “has the character, the experience and the temper to lead this nation.”

“We believe he will restore the dignity of the presidency, bring Americans together, reaffirm America’s role as a world leader, and inspire our nation to live up to its ideals,” they will say.

The group, which is part of a project called “Defending Democracy Together,” is also planning a six-figure social media campaign in Swing States to get voters to opt for Biden.

This is the last group of Republicans to vote in favor of Biden, and it looks like a wave of objections to Trump’s nomination in 2016. At this week’s Democratic National Convention, there were regular videos former Republican officials and voters announcing their support for the Democratic candidate.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell (who has supported Democrats since 2008) and former Republican Governor of Ohio John Kasich gave speeches in support of Biden.

The criticism was swept aside by Trump, who responded to Kasich’s approval of his opponent by calling him a “loser.”

“He was a loser as a Republican, and he will be a loser as a Democrat,” Trump told reporters Tuesday. “Big loser as a Republican. I guess you can quote me on that. John was a loser as a Republican. Never even approached. And as a Democrat he will be an even bigger loser.
