More than a year after the streaming service Twitch banned Dr Disrespect from its platform, the two-time champion finally confirms that he knows why.
The month of June marked the date of one year Tic banned Dr Disrespect, and many fans of Doc and the streaming world in general wanted to know why. Since this happened, no one seemed to know why, including Dr Disrespect himself. What happened, however, was a ton of conspiracy theories about Dr. Disrespect and Twitch filling the void, all of which were damaging the Doc’s reputation.
Indeed, without any reason having been given for the ban on Twitch, many Internet users have gone to the worst-case scenario. It has long been proven that this is not the worst case scenario, but many want to know. Now, it looks like the Doc has been open to hearing about it for a few months now.
When the Doc first said he didn’t know why he was banned from Twitch, some believed him and some didn’t. It was a side effect of all the reputational rumors that circulated around the Doc. Now, in a recent YouTube feed, Doc has admitted knowing and continued that he plans to “sue them”.
Doc didn’t want to explain why he was banned, even though he now and everyone knows it, and that’s likely due to his lawsuit against Twitch. He continued in the stream, by the way, about the “amount of damage” that happened as a result of Twitch, and “you don’t… no. While it might not be clear what exactly he was thinking at these times, it’s worth many Twitch streamers to worry about the banhammer.
Streaming is a legitimate job and streamers put a lot of work and dedication into it. To have all of this ripped from someone must be disheartening, to say the least. There’s no case as high-profile as the Doc, but the fact that the platform has never been consistent with its own decisions doesn’t help its case. If this has happened to Dr Disrespect it can happen to anyone, and for anyone who goes out of their way to create a beautiful community, even if there is an occasional hiccup, having it all ripped out just isn’t correct.
Dr Disrespect is now launching a video game studio, with the concept of a vertical battle royale game in mind. He’s made the most of his time on YouTube and off Twitch, it seems, but he’s been open about the struggles he’s created. There’s probably a lot going on in the background that fans don’t even know. Fortunately, he is permanently supported by his community, the Champions Club. What comes next between Twitch and the Doc remains to be seen, but many eyes in the streaming world are on these events.
