There’s a new development in Dr Dre’s divorce from Nicole Young: The rapper agreed to pay his ex-wife nearly $ 2 million in total in temporary child support, according to multiple reports.

Dre’s wife since 1996 had filed legal documents in September asking for payments of $ 1.9 million per month, plus an additional $ 5 million to pay her lawyer.

In her official response at the time, Dre said the couple had a prenuptial agreement. Young claimed that she was forced to sign the document and that her husband subsequently tore it up.

Now, in a deal reached by their lawyers, the “Next Episode” artist will not pay the $ 5 million. Young would be responsible for his own legal costs.

As TMZ reports that Dre, real name Andre Young, will continue to pay for his wife’s living expenses at her Malibu home and the cost of her mother’s house in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. He will not be responsible for the cost of Young’s security. The terms will remain at least until their next divorce hearing, scheduled for April.

Yahoo Entertainment has reached out to Dre’s rep for comment.

In June 2019, Forbes estimated that Dre was worth $ 800 million – between his music and his many entrepreneurial pursuits – and ranked him second on the list of richest rappers in the world. Six months later, the magazine crowned him the highest-paid musical artist of the decade, even above BeyoncĂ©, Jay-Z and Taylor Swift, thanks to the $ 950 million he raised during that time. .

He reportedly signed the latest deal with Young from his hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was taken on Monday after suffering from a brain aneurysm. However, in an update Tuesday night, Dre himself said he was “doing very well”.
