Drew Pinsky, known by his TV name, Dr Drew revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 this week, months after downplaying the virus and calling the pandemic “press-induced”.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Pinsky said he tested positive for COVID-19 next to a photo of him lying in his bed. The legend says he feels better and he is [hopefully] get well soon. ”In a later video, Pinsky said,“ COVID isn’t fun. I don’t recommend it.
“Thanks for checking on me, I appreciate all the nice screams,” Pinksy said in her video. “I’m sort of in the viral phase, which is when the virus is reproducing, and I’ve taken a lot of good drugs to attack that early.”
Pinksy then said he was in the “inflammatory phase”, explaining that his lungs were “filling up”. He also added that he was happy to have had it now and “not earlier in” the pandemic, due to all the treatments that are now available. People left comments under her Instagram videos pointing out that these treatments were not available to everyone.
Pinsky also said he initially tested negative for COVID-19 but tested positive “on day four.”
In April, a video compilation circulated online about Pinsky downplaying COVID-19 in several interviews from February and March and telling people how much less severe the virus is than the flu. In a clip from February, when asked if he could predict 20,000 deaths from the coronavirus, he said “that won’t happen.”
COVID-19 killed more than 1.8 million people globally on Thursday, including at least 343,818 Americans, according to Johns Hopkins.
“It’s a press-induced panic, I’m angry about it. It’s the flu, ”Pinsky told KTLA on March 2, just days before the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic.
He then apologized for his previous remarks, saying: “My first comments on the assimilation of the coronavirus and the flu were wrong. They were incorrect. I was part of a choir that said that, and we were wrong. And I want to apologize. “
Pinsky is known to be a TV personality and doctor who has hosted shows including “Dr. Drew ”and“ The Dr. Drew Podcast ”.
