According to Berman, Samuel died from the Xanax sequels containing fentanyl that he bought on Snapchat. She said her son could not have known it contained the synthetic opioid, which is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. The couple also said their son felt isolated during the pandemic and wanted to experiment with prescription pills when he found out he could buy them on the social platform.

“Each different drug had a different color, the way a child would like to see it,” Chapman revealed.

The “Language of Love” podcast host and Chapman opened up about their son’s death in an attempt to warn people of the dangers of social media and to encourage parents to monitor their children’s activities.

“If it helps a kid, it’s worth it,” Berman explained.

Snapchat said it would work with law enforcement to investigate Samuel’s case and denounced the illegal activity on its platform.

“We are committed to working with law enforcement in this matter and in all cases where Snapchat is used for illegal purposes,” a spokesperson for Snapchat told Page Six on Monday in a statement.

“We have zero tolerance for using Snapchat to buy or sell illegal drugs,” the statement continued, noting that the use of Snapchat for “illegal purposes” goes against community guidelines. ‘business.

Berman announced his son’s death on Monday in a heartbreaking Instagram post.

“My heart is completely broken and I don’t know how to keep breathing,” she wrote.
