Dr. Mario World is available now for iOS. The latest smartphone game from Nintendo was originally due out July 10, but the user of Twitter @ Wario64 notes that the download was posted a day in advance for Apple devices. As of the date of publication, the game is not yet available for Android via the Google Play Store in the United Kingdom or the United States.
The choice of the game depends largely on the fidelity of the experience you want to play the original NES game. As we noted in our preview of the game, the new edition for smartphone dramatically changes the experience, returning the game board and transforming the game of an endless experience similar to that of Tetris to a step by step puzzle game like candy Crush.
The game also suffers from the same free monetization excesses that Nintendo has used in its other mobile titles. It offers timers, which limit the number of games you can play at a time, unless you are willing to pay with the game's currencies. There are also random-split gacha systems to unlock new characters, assistants and improve your list. If you have the habit of playing for free with smartphone games, none of this will seem excessive. But you should not approach Dr. Mario World expects an experience similar to his console namesake.
