Dr. Phil reassesses the safety of his Chevrolet & 57 after the Kevin Hart crash

Kevin Hartscary car wreck a Dr. Phil trembling because, like Kevin, he owns a classic car … and he realizes now that this poses serious security problems.

The Doc says to "TMZ Live" that its "57 Chevy is identical to that of Hart's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda in that it's equipped with lap sashes but no safety harnesses … and that He does not know what to do about it.

As Dr. Phil says – they do not make cars like they were before … and that's not always a good thing. It shows us that there is really no way to easily install shoulder strap seatbelts with the construction of the car. This is not the case with Kevin Barracuda: suspenders could have been installed.

Phil points out that old cars like Kevin's and Kevin's do not behave as well in crash tests as modern vehicles and, without making any changes, collision survival rates are much lower. In fact, he says that he is stunned. Hart is still alive.

If their injuries may not have been totally avoided if the car had been equipped with safety harnesses or airbags, they certainly would not have hurt … and their installation is now a priority for Dr. Phil.
