Dr Robert Edward ‘Doc’ Archer, DDS, 66, of Toronto, OH, passed away on Wednesday October 6, 2021.

Bob was born on September 12, 1955 in Steubenville, OH, the only child of the late Ralph E. and Ann M. (Cattrell) Archer.

Bob graduated from Toronto High School in 1973. He received his BA in Zoology and Chemistry from Ohio University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1976. Bob graduated from Ohio State University in 1979 and graduated Cum Laude from the Dental School. While in the state of Ohio, Bob was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Academic Honor Society. He became the youngest licensed dentist in the state of Ohio at the age of 23.

Bob began his dental career as an associate with Dr. Frank Rivelle in Wellsville, OH. He then opened his own practice in his hometown of Toronto. Bob enjoyed the practice of dentistry and after 40 years retired on September 12, 2019. He was a member of the American Dental Association and the Eastern Ohio Dental Society.

He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Toronto and a current member of the Starkdale Presbyterian Church in Wintersville. While in Starkdale, Bob was a former leader, choir member, and served on various boards. Bob was also a member of the former musical group, The Majesty Quartet, where he sang bass.

Bob’s memberships include the Toronto High School Alumni Association, a life member of the OSU Alumni Association, and the Jefferson Co. Sportsman Club. He was a former volunteer member of the TEMS Squad in Toronto and the Toronto Community Band. In his youth, Bob was an avid golfer. He was also an avid boating enthusiast, enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, watching his Buckeyes and listening to music. Of all her hobbies, her favorite was spending time with her children.

Bob is survived by his wife, Bonnie K. (McQuiston) Archer and two children, Christina Ann Archer and Ryan Edward Archer.

Friends will be received on Sunday, October 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the JE Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH, where his funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Reverend Carl Moore will officiate and interment will follow at Toronto Union Cemetery.
