Reboots and Ru-vivals can be all the rage, but they rarely match the quality of the original. Enter this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Three seasons later The Bossy Rossy show wowed audiences with his terrifying pickles and sexy drag babes, Ross Mathews iconic a late-night talker was brought back for another round on Friday – and it was everywhere. (Sure, there were a few highlights, but it’s not a big night of performances when someone gets top honors for playing a mime. Even though she did emotes for the gods.)
This came after a very satisfying mini-reading challenge, which Gottmik won with a series of wild reads on Kandy Muse identifying with the pug community, with Tina Burner having the build of a football player and Utica Queen being everything. just “weird f-ing”. The latter was actually a recurring read throughout the mini-game; Tina directly asked Utica where she was hiding the bodies of her victims. Watch the full reading challenge below:
The real gag this week turned out to be Olivia Lux, whose cover as a low-key fierce competitor has officially been blown. Tina even called her a “secret diva,” and she’s not wrong. Not only was Utica furious when Olivia ‘stole’ her part in the improv challenge, but Olivia even threw a little salt into her injury, suggesting, “I could end up in the top again. And you know what? She did finish at the top. This is the second victory of the maxi challenge for Olivia, who has not yet finished getting closer to the bottom. And the more I think about his clever take on the track theme (pictured above), the more I appreciate his ingenuity.
With all due respect to Miss Lux, however, I think I would have declared Symone the winner this week. Not only did she bring in enough energy to keep her improv sketch alive, but I don’t even have words to say how good her runway look was. I just sat there with a limp jaw trying to absorb every inch of this African warrior inspired masterpiece …

On the other end of the spectrum, a combination of unimpressive improvisation performances and lackluster track presentations landed LaLa Ri and Elliott with 2 Ts in the final two this week, with Utica narrowly avoiding having to lip-sync. for his life.
Despite LaLa’s track record of killing lip syncs, Elliott entered their battle with confidence. And from the moment Kelly Clarkson’s “Whole Lotta Woman” started acting, she shot it. outside. LaLa may have charisma, uniqueness, and talent, but Elliott brought the courage, staying at LaLa’s level or above all the time, breaking up occasionally to sweeten the pot. And those synchronized body rolls! Real conversation, none of these ladies disappointed. In the end, however, the “LaLa Ri experience” just wasn’t enough – Ru was forced to send Queen Sashaying back to Atlanta.
