Dragon Quest characters revealed as Smash Bros. DLC Ultimate – E3 2019

By Joe Skrebels

Several main characters from the Dragon Quest series – including the Dragon Quest 11 hero – will join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this summer.

Announced in today's E3 Nintendo Direct, it's hard to know how these DLC characters work – or even if they're traditionally separate characters. However, we have seen that the traditional DQ turn-based battle menus will be part of their attacks. We will keep you informed as we know more.

We also got a glimpse of a Dragon Quest themed scene, featuring a host of slimes, as you wish.

The move is probably a celebration of the arrival of Dragon Quest 11 on Switch – when it arrived on PS4 and on PC last year, we assigned it a rating of 8.8, the qualifying as "massive, masterful and" traditional "RPG that puts more emphasis on combat mechanics, loot and exploration than history." We recently learned that Square Enix was starting to run on Dragon Quest 12.
