Drew Barrymore has revealed she is sending personal video messages to Britney Spears amid her high-profile conservation battle.
The daytime talk show host has publicly shared her support for Spears in the past, noting previously that she had tried to stay out of public discourse surrounding the singer’s legal issues given she did not know personally the pop star. However, Barrymore has expressed more support for Spears in recent months after it became clear that she needed a voice in her corner to defend her fight for legal freedom.
Meanwhile, the former “Charlie’s Angels” actress also shared her support for Spears in a more personal way. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, Barrymore revealed that she is sending Spears personalized videos encouraging him not to give up.
“I appreciate all the people who support Britney on social media,” Barrymore explained. “I took a different turn. I actually sent him home videos.”

The 46-year-old talk show host explained that she believed the encouragement would help Spears get through the ongoing drama, noting that she was the “key” to her own freedom. The actress believes Spears’ case is part of a larger conversation about personal freedoms.
“I am very invested in this field. I think that everyone deserves the chance to live well, to live badly and all the rest,” she added. “It’s become such a public interest because it’s about something bigger. It’s about being allowed to live your life. And so, I’m investing in it and I really want that. she regains her freedom. “
Spears’ father filed a petition last week to end his controversial guardianship. Judge Brenda Penny, who is overseeing the case, has yet to make a decision. It could finally put a stop to the restrictive 13-year-old guardianship Spears says he suffered.
Unfortunately, Spears did not respond directly to Barrymore’s video messages. However, the talk show host says she sent “little smoke signals.” Either way, Barrymore notes that the goal wasn’t to establish a close friendship with Spears as much as it was to be in solidarity with her.
