A day after the team placed him in the injured reserve, Saints quarterback Drew Brees is said to have 11 broken ribs – eight to his left side and three to his right according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.

Brees had x-rays and CT scans every other day this week. He suffered the injuries – including a collapsed lung – in New Orleans’ Week 9 game against Tampa Bay and Week 10 against San Francisco. He is eligible to be activated at Week 14, when the Saints face off against the Eagles on the road.
During the season, Brees completed 73.5% of his passes for 2,196 yards, 18 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has a passer rating of 110.0, his sixth consecutive season with a rating of over 100.
