CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio – The man who, according to the authorities, drove his truck to the emergency entrance of a Winchester Canal hospital, killing one, was charged with aggravated murder.

The incident occurred around 9:45 am Friday at Diley Ridge Medical Center.

The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office said the truck driver, identified as Raymond Leiendecker, a 44-year-old man from Baltimore, was arrested and charged.

The Fairfileld County Sheriff's Office stated that the victim, identified as Scott Davis, a 61-year-old male from Canal Winchester, was taken to Mount Carmel East, where his death was declared. A spokesman for the hospital confirmed that he was a long-time employee of the hospital.

Another person was taken to Mount Carmel East for treatment.

The authorities indicated that they were still investigating the accident, but there is no indication that the truck attempted to brake before striking the building.

Leiendecker is being held with $ 5 million in cash or bail and with a $ 500,000 pledge, according to the sheriff's office.

Diley Ridge is a subsidiary of the Mount Carmel Health System.
