A driver leading a multi-county pursuit after a hit-and-run involving a Walnut deputy vehicle treated a Diamond Bar pavement like a demolition derby, crushing unsuspecting drivers before being trapped behind a car on Tuesday.

The pursuit pilot was at a standstill with MPs at Diamond Bar near Highway 60.

The deputies had their weapons drawn and fired pepperballs into the vehicle at around 4 p.m.

The pursuit began at 3:24 p.m. after the hit-and-run occurred at Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue in the town of Walnut.

Two people were taken to hospital after the accident.

MPs attempted several unsuccessful PIT maneuvers, leaving the sedan’s bumper hanging from a wire.

The red sedan also swept aside about three other vehicles while fleeing from the police, before crashing into several more.

Eventually, the chase driver crashed into a silver SUV and came to a stop.
