Drums or flats? Jalen Hurts settles the chicken wings debate

Having covered Jalen Hurts for over a year now, I think it’s safe to say we don’t always see him showing his personality. That’s not a criticism of the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback, to be clear. It’s not uncommon for professional athletes to play straight up when they have more important things to focus on than entertaining people at a press conference.

But it was fun to see Hurts open up a bit more than before in a recent one-on-one interview for the Bleeding Green Nation podcast feed. BGN Own Radio Raichele Privette sat down with Hurts to discuss a number of topics, including:

  • Hurts’ involvement in Pepsi’s “Made For Eagles Watching” campaign
  • Hurts’ assessment of his progress and self-confidence ahead of the 2020 season
  • Hurts ‘reaction to the Eagles’ trade for Gardner Minshew
  • Hurts’ advice for DeVonta Smith as he adapts to the NFL
  • Hurts’ feelings after being officially named QB1
  • Hurts’ membership to Omega Psi Phi

But no topic was more important than his chicken wing preferences.

IT HURTS: I am a healthy guy. But I also love myself a Pepsi.

PRIVATE: OK, does that mean you don’t eat wings?

IT HURTS: Hey, I have my days! (laughing)

PRIVATE: As for the wings, are you like a barbecue or a buffalo?

IT HURTS: As for the chicken wings … if I had to order wings I would probably have three flavors. Traditionally, I get three flavors. Depending on what the place has, what’s available at the place, I’ll go look for a Caribbean moron, if they have it. I’ve been on my Caribbean vibe lately for some reason. I’m going for a Caribbean moron, I’m going for some hot wings, and I’m also trying the lemon peppers. All apartments. All all apartments.

I have to say it’s a great ‘refuel’ moment for Hurts. The dishes are definitely superior to the drums. It is all good. And I truly respect the commitment to a variety of flavors rather than just picking one.
