CHICAGO (June 15th 2019) – U.S. Men"s national Midfielder Duane Holmes was forced to withdraw from training for the 2019 Gold Cup Concacaf because of an injury. Holmes again greased a left quadricep strain he suffered before the end of the league season with Derby County.
Chicago Fire firefighter midfielder Djordje Mihailovic was added to the list of 23 players and will report to Minneapolis on June 15th. Mihailovic won all three caps in 2019, marking his debut Jan. 27 in the 3-0 win over Panama.
According to the tournament rules, a player may be removed from the list due to an injury up to 24 hours before the opening game of the team. The replacement must come from the provisional roster of 40 players, which was to arrive no later than May 16 in Concacaf.
The team opens the Gold Cup Concacaf 2019 tournament against Guyana on June 18 at Allianz Field, a venue that broke the record for the most sales in tournament history (10 pm ET). East, FS1, UniMas & UDN).
After the game against Guyana, the United States moves east to face Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, June 22 at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, before closing the group match against Panama on Wednesday, June 26 at the Children's 'S Mercy Park in Kansas City.
