Dubois’ commercial rumors are heating up; Jets, ducks, Canadians among the contenders

Commercial rumors of Pierre-Luc Dubois are burning shortly after the benching of John Tortorella from the talented center. Various reports indicate that a trade with Dubois could take place soon – possibly Saturday morning – and the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets have been mentioned as favorites.

As always, things could change. There could be a Pierre-Luc Dubois exchange earlier (maybe in the wee hours of the night), it could drag on, or things could fall apart.

Let’s review the commercial rumors of Pierre-Luc Dubois, via Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, TSN’s Darren Dreger, and TSN Athletic / Pierre LeBrun.

Blue Jackets is said to have carried on commercial activities with Dubois; Overview of rumors

On Friday, Dreger ranked among those who circled Saturday morning being a possible window for a Pierre-Luc Dubois profession. Unsurprisingly, it looks like the Columbus Blue Jackets will make Dubois a healthy scratch – if he’s still on their roster.

Friedman uses the phrase “aggressively pursuing” a Dubois trade, which makes it all the more likely.

Here are some details on Dubois’ possible business scenarios, via Friedman:

Dubois – Laine featured in potential Blue Jackets – Jets trade?

As you can see in this recent article from just before the Bench Crisis, a Laine-Dubois trade would be an entertaining exchange of “problems” and headliners.

Several anonymous sources told Friedman that a possible package would include Laine and Jack Roslovic, who is currently not signed by the Jets.

Many teams could be in the mix

Friedman also notes that the Ducks are increasing their bid for Dubois, although details are scarce. LeBrun adds that the Ducks have been part of the Dubois mix for a long time.

During Friday’s appearances, Dreger reported that some teams were told they were not in the mix for a trade.

Friedman reports that Nick Suzuki is not currently suspended in Dubois’ trade talks with the Habs, but also notes that this could change. (The Suzuki swap would be daring Montreal and controversial. Marc Bergevin loves those kinds of moves … but it would be daring all the same.)

It’s hard to say if there is a true favorite among these Dubois trade rumors. Still, there are a number of fascinating scenarios.

Laine – Dubois would be fascinating in that they won’t end these sagas, but simply apply a twist and a “To continue…” Laine is only under contract for the 2020-21 season, while Dubois is only under contract for the 2020-21 season. is only locked down until 2021-22. It’s plausible that Laine isn’t thrilled to stay with Columbus, and Dubois could possibly want to leave Winnipeg, in the grand scheme of things.

To be continued …

Additionally, PHT has previously speculated that Tortorella will run into striker Max Domi. Imagine that Torts fulminates against Laine?

But it would also be a lot of fun. Either way, it’s exciting. If you are a fan of the Blue Jackets, or if you are hoping that Dubois trade rumors end up becoming dream realities for your team, then this could be scary.

Good luck finding the right grades, Jarmo Kekalainen, GM of the Blue Jackets.
