Duke and Duchess of Sussex Appoint New Private Secretary – Royal Central

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have appointed a new private secretary to head their household.

according to The mail on SundayHarry and Meghan hired the highly respected diplomat Fiona Mcilwham to run their office.

Ms. Mcilwham was formerly United Kingdom ambassador to Albania, having risen through the ranks of the diplomatic service.

The 45-year-old assistant replaces Samantha Cohen, who will leave the cabinet secretary position at the end of the year.

Ms. Cohen will stay with Harry & Meghan until their visit to South Africa next month.

Before going to the Sussex office, Ms. Cohen, Queen's Assistant Private Secretary. She was supposed to work only for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for a few months, but agreed to stay for an additional period because of her good relations with Meghan while she was initiated to the royal life. .

Harry & Meghan's new private secretary will join an existing team at Buckingham Palace who are working for the royal couple.

Sara Latham, a key figure in Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, was named the couple's secretary of communications in the spring.

This followed their separation from the Kensington Palace where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are based.

The separation of the Sussex family from Cambridges means that each couple can focus on their own projects.

In a statement, a spokesman for Buckingham Palace said at the time: "The Queen has agreed to create a new home for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following their marriage last May. The home, which will be created with the support of the Queen and the Prince of Wales, will be created in the spring. "
