The Buffalo Bills maintained their unbeaten preseason with a 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions on Friday night.
While there is still a lot of room for improvement after this negligible effort, many Bills players competing for spots in the lineup stood out against Detroit. With a limited number of places, at least eight players can say that they have made the most of their luck.
Here's a look at the 11 players who helped or hurt their lineup in the third game of the Bills.

HELP
Duc Williams and Isaiah McKenzie
It is time to seriously consider bills with seven major players. Duke Williams and Isaiah McKenzie can not be more different with respect to what they bring to the list of Bills, but both deserve a spot on the list of 53 men.
Williams again used his size to play pre-season games. He finished last night's game with three receptions. One of his catches resulted in a 16-yard touchdown where Williams just pulled the ball out of the ball and made his way into the end zone.
McKenzie also continued his good pre-season performance. The wide receiver received a helping hand from Josh Allen in the first half, which he took to the end zone for a six-yard score. McKenzie's ability to be used as a gadget player should improve the chances of his alignment.
T.J. Yeldon
After tapping the ball in his second pre-season postponement, T.J. Yeldon only made positive things for Buffalo. This continued against Detroit when he showed his value as a receiving option out of the backfield. Yeldon was targeted four times against Detroit and had three passes for 51 yards. His most impressive capture was a 31-yard reception along the sidelines.
Buffalo is loaded at the backstop, but Yeldon is doing everything in his power to show him that it's worth continuing to be on the list.
Ryan Bates
The Bills traded against Ryan Bates about two weeks ago. At the time, it seemed that the Bills were simply adding another depth option along the offensive line due to injuries while returning a defensive end that had no chance of being on the list.
Now? Now, it seems that the Bills were able to skin the Eagles in the trade. Last week, Bates was the second team center of the Bills. He stood on the field and eventually became one of the top ranked Pro Football Focus' (PFF) players.
Bates played left against Detroit and once again played well. Although PFF did not publish any notes, the analysis site noted that he excelled in pass protection.
His ability to play all five of the offensive line gives him a legitimate chance to stay in the lineup of the 53 players in a week.
Darryl Johnson and Mike Love
Darryl Johnson and Mike Love can not create a separation, but that's for good reason. Both players behave well in the field.
Johnson ended Friday night's game with two tackles and one touchdown quarterback. One of Johnson's tackling occurred in a room where he flew onto the field with special teams. Love, a 2018 UDFA, recorded two tackles including one for a loss. He also added a quarterback against the Lions.
Both players have their share of success after the quarter and disrupt the games. Brandon Beane may need to find a way to keep five pieces of defense on the initial lineup of the 53 Buffalo players.
Deon Lacey
The LBs coach recently said his team was going to keep six linebackers. This leaves little room for players to compete for a place behind Lorenzo Alexander, Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano. Veteran Deon Lacey is a linebacker who played very well against Detroit. Lacey recorded with three tackles, one sack and two quarters of a quarter.
Lacey is remarkable in the special teams, so he has a chance to break the lineup.
Jaquan Johnson
While the Bills defense had to play late, safety Jaquan Johnson came to the rescue.
Detroit was moving deep into the Bills territory late when quarterback Josh Johnson hit Travis Fulgham on a 15-yard run to join the 15-yard Bills line. As Fulgham tried to score yards after the match, Buffalo's safety came up and tore the ball off the wide catcher's hands before also going off with the fumble catch.
Johnson took full advantage of his opportunities in the pre-season and could end up claiming fourth place.
HURT
Russell Bodine
The former Buffalo start was on the ground behind Detroit, but he still struggled against some of the third-ranked Lions players and was called to an offensive guard.
It's only a matter of time before Russell Bodine looks for work elsewhere.
Victor Bolden
Victor Bolden is buried on the depth chart of the Bills at wide receiver. In addition to playing the receiver, Bolden has experience in returns. He had the opportunity to return to Detroit and cough. The Lions were going to keep spinning the ball, but that was an expensive mistake for Bolden.
Helped and hurt
Corey Bojorquez
If the Bills focus on the last three events of Corey Bojorquez, you can say that the striker helped his lineup equal his chance against Detroit. After two poor moves, including one that could have created a big game for Detroit if the keeper in return had not judged the ball well in the air, Bojorquez had stopped and had three strong shots for the distance and the time.
However, if the bills focus on all of Bojorquez's work, he may have ruined his rating on Friday night. No one doubts Bojorquez's leg, but his consistency continues to be a problem. It is quite possible that bettors from the first week of Buffalo are not on their list.
