A night video of the Duncan Hunter representative overcoming a low barrier in Arizona draws attention after it turned out that he had mistakenly assumed that he was crossing the US-Mexico border.

He then balances his legs on a low beam while saying on the other side of the structure: "That's it. That's how easy it is to cross the border here in Yuma, Arizona. "
Hunter's Democrat challenger, Ammar Campa-Najjar, accused the congressman of violating parole conditions, which would have limited his trip to the continental United States. Federal authorities have accused Hunter and his wife of illegally using campaign funds for their personal expenses. They pleaded not guilty.
But a Border Patrol spokesman told The Times of San Diego that Hunter's Thursday video did not show it in fact in Mexico.
"What [Hunter] crossing was a security barrier, "said spokesman Vincent Dulesky. "It's about 75-100 feet from the border – the border is actually the river that is west of that border."
Campa-Najjar acknowledged this statement by tweeting. "Took [Hunter] for his word, he was 15 meters from the border. I guess the facts were not on his side.
Hunter was one of the first supporters of President Trump, who represents one of California's most conservative districts, according to CNN. The former Navy beat Campa-Najjar last year.
