Yeah, it turns out all these soldiers and giant sandworms are gonna be up to something in Denis Villeneuve’s new outlook on science fiction icon.
A few weeks before its release later this month, Warner Bros. released a “final” trailer for Dune. Most of his new footage is about expanding scenes we’ve seen before.-There are longer cuts of Paul (Timothée Chalamet) having a conversation about his dreams of Chani (Zendaya) with Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa), over Duncan’s great fight scenes, and, of course, ornithopters, ornithopters everywhere. But if there’s one running theme throughout this particular trailer, it’s about Paul realizing the danger his father (Duke Leto, played by Oscar Isaac) and his family find themselves in when they arrive for rule over the planet Arrakis, and the early stages of the war waged by House Harkonnen to knock out House Atreides.
This ways, even though we get more conversation snippets, much of this trailer is more focused on the overall action of the movie – lots of Ornithoptera chases, Duncan’s great brawl with the Harkonnen forces, Massive clashes between the Harkonnen and Atreides forces caught off guard by the duplicity of the former ruler of Arrakis, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård). There are even a few sandworms and Paul’s famous phrase “fear is the killer of the spirit” were added for good measure!
Suffice to say it’s a bit more of a typical movie trailer for Dune that we have seen in relation to what happened beforee, present it more like the big picture Denis Villeneuve would prefer by far, by far you’re going to see it on a big movie screen rather than via its simultaneous streaming debut on HBO Max. Given the first word on it though, looks like you’re gonna have a good time, whichever option you choose, when Dune hits theaters and HBO Max in the United States.S. October 22.
