The chief designer of the Dungeons & Dragons The tabletop role-playing game announced on Sunday that work has started on the next version of the game and that new ground rules books will be released in 2024 for the game’s 50th anniversary.

D&D designer Chris Perkins added that two New campaign settings – the first for Wizards of the Coast since Eberron – were in development, but not necessarily slated for release as well. He noted that some design format changes had already been introduced in recent books in more subtle ways. Publishing manager Liz Schuh called it the perfect moment for such experimentation.
Perkins also teased a deluxe 2022 cover skit featuring “miniature giant space hamster Boo,” which longtime D&D fans might hint at. Baldur’s Gate Where Spell scrambler, depending on how you look at it …
The D&D team also announced a new rules expansion gift set for January 25, 2022: Xanathar’s Guide to Everything and Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything will be joined in a case by a new book, Mordenkainen presents the monsters of the multiverse, which would then be available as an individual version with standard and premium coverage options. These were intended for a vacation outing, but global shipping issues delayed them. The gift box versions will also have special and standard cover treatments, as has become the norm.
