Dustin Diamond wonders if he got cancer from cheap hotels

Dustin DiamondThe cancer diagnosis of cancer was difficult for him to deal with emotionally … and he wonders how it happened to him.

The “Saved by the Bell” star rep tells TMZ … Dustin struggles to come to terms with the type of lung cancer he has – stage 4 small cell carcinoma – because he is normally caused by smoking, and he has never been a smoker.

So we’re told that Dustin can’t help but wonder if his cancer was the result of his frequent work trips over the past 20 years.

The rep says that Dustin has worked all over the country on movie sets and comedy clubs for dating … and sometimes had to stay in pretty dodgy hotels and motels because there is no had no other options.

We are told that Dustin thinks some of these stains could have contained mold or asbestos … that he could have been breathing, causing his cancer.

As we reported … Dustin just finished his first cycle of chemo in a hospital in Florida, and will soon begin physical therapy pending the second cycle of treatment.

We’re told his doctors haven’t determined what caused his cancer, but as we’ve reported … he has a history of it in his family. His mother died of breast cancer.
