Dustin Rhodes has officially announced his departure from the WWE. The former WWE Superstar has released a statement on Twitter, followed by a short video of him saying goodbye to the character that made him famous in the company of Vince McMahon, Goldust.

Dustin revealed in his statement that he had actually asked for his release at the WWE and got it, thus opening him the door of his life.

One of Dustin's first stops after his stay at WWE is AEW, the company co-founded by his brother Cody. Dustin will face Cody at Double or nothingAEW's first event, May 25 in Las Vegas. This announcement was made just one day before Dustin posted his statement on Twitter and said goodbye to Goldust's character.

Dustin is known for bringing this gadget to life, which could have failed when he first gave it to the wrestling fans in 1995.
