Dustin Rhodes has officially announced his departure from the WWE. The former WWE Superstar has released a statement on Twitter, followed by a short video of him saying goodbye to the character that made him famous in the company of Vince McMahon, Goldust.

Dustin revealed in his statement that he had actually asked for his release at the WWE and got it, thus opening him the door of his life.

"I put my body on long enough, although these last 30 years and many opportunities that have been presented to me have put a damper on my love of the fight. I asked for my release at the WWE and this was granted. I take this time to explore some of these many opportunities. Life is too short not to take ALL the chances that you feel compelled to take, and I will give this next chapter all my concentration and all my efforts. I would appreciate your continued support as I turned this page of my life and went where this trip might lead me later. "

One of Dustin's first stops after his stay at WWE is AEW, the company co-founded by his brother Cody. Dustin will face Cody at Double or nothingAEW's first event, May 25 in Las Vegas. This announcement was made just one day before Dustin posted his statement on Twitter and said goodbye to Goldust's character.

Dustin is known for bringing this gadget to life, which could have failed when he first gave it to the wrestling fans in 1995. Dustin used Goldust as a way to carve out a place in the company where his father, the legendary American Dream Dusty Rhodes is one of the stars of all time. Dustin has been more successful in creating his own identity and is now considered a true WWE legend.
