Dwayne Johnson reveals ‘Black Adam’ 2022 release date

“A disruptive and unstoppable force of a message from the man in black himself,” Johnson said captioned the post which showed Times Square with a Black adam visual teaser. “The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.” The short spot with the release date also aired during Sunday’s NCAA game.

The news comes after the recent announcement that Pierce Brosnan has landed the role of classic hero Dr. Fate. To complete the cast, Aldis Hodge in Hawkman, Noah Centineo in Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell in Cyclone.

Black adam marks second New Line / DC film after 2019 success Shazam !, featuring the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, known as archrivals in the DC Universe. Production on the film is scheduled to begin in April in Atlanta.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who also helmed Johnson alongside Emily Blunt in the upcoming Disney film Jungle cruise, directed Black Adam. Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions produce with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo is the executive producer. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the last draft, Adam Sztykiel wrote the previous draft.
