Dylan Farrow today tweeted a long appeal for understanding and empathy in the hours leading up to tonight’s HBO docuseries Allen V. Farrow broadcasts previously unseen images of her.

In the episode, a long-deleted home video shows 7-year-old Dylan speaking days after an alleged incident involving his father, Woody Allen, occurred. The time stamp shows the date August 5, 1992.

“We went to your room and we went to the attic,” says the young girl, who is cutting some paper with a pair of scissors. “Then he started to say weird things to me. Then, secretly, he entered the attic…. Went behind me and touched my intimate friends.

Woody Allen has vigorously denied the allegations for decades and called the documentary series “hatchet work” in his own responses to it. He has not been charged with any crime in connection with the alleged abuse.

The operator of the camcorder was his mother, Mia Farrow. The tape was never seen publicly, but it was reportedly given to Dylan by his mother when she came of age. She says in today’s tweet that she kept it hidden in her closet and hadn’t watched it under the documentary that surfaced.

In today’s tweet, Dylan Farrow admitted that his first public broadcast caused him “anxiety” and “sleepless nights”. She asked for “empathy, compassion and openness of mind and heart”.
