It didn’t take long.

In his second game as Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin scored his first goal wearing the “C” on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes. And she was a beauty, sort of.

Larkin turned in the back of the net as two Hurricanes continued with a 1-1 score in the third period. Heading to his left, he threw a shot back toward the goal and the puck bounced off two Hurricanes and into the net past former Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek.

He was named captain on Wednesday before the Wings’ season opens. He started the season with 107 goals and 159 assists in 390 games since his draft No. 15 overall in 2014.

The Wings were chasing their first win of the year on Saturday, after suffering a 3-0 loss in the season opener.

Larkin got a “real” goal later, scoring an empty net with 1:56 to go to seal the 4-2 victory.
