The Norwich-based company announced Thursday that it was issuing a voluntary recall of five-pound bags of all-purpose unbleached flour, which have been sold through retailers and distributors across the country, according to the company. a statement.

Concerns about E. coli are due to the fact that ADM Milling Co., a Buffalo-based company that manufactures King Arthur's flour, has reported links to a household involving a different product processed in the plant, according to King Arthur's spokesman, Gwen Adams.

King Arthur Flour has decided to issue the recall by "great caution," Adams said.

According to King Arthur Flour, the flour mentioned in the recall bears the dates of "best use before" of 12/07/19, 12/08/19 or 14/12/19. The affected products carry six different batch numbers, listed in a press release on the Food and Drug Administration's website.

King Arthur Flour encourages anyone with a bag included in the recall to dispose of it or bring it back to the place where they bought it. The company issues refunds to consumers who have purchased flour included in the recall.

Stores have already removed impacted products from shelves, according to Adams.

Flour sold directly from King Arthur's catalog, website and retail store in Norwich is not subject to recall.
