Borderlands 3
Seven years have passed since the release of Borderlands 2 in 2012, so fans are eagerly awaiting Gearbox's next entry into the famous series of shooters. Borderlands 3 finally arrives in September, and after playing at E3 2019, we left looking forward to seeing and playing more.
Weapons are a key element of the Borderlands series. We found that the weapons seemed more distinct and that there was simply a greater variety of weapons available to you. Specifically, the shotguns seemed very powerful and had a strong setback, while the sound design was excellent too, effectively communicating the thud and shock. Another highlight in the firearms department was the Hyperion weapons that had different capabilities to aim for. A weapon randomly fires laser beams every few shots, another has a shield that sends the bullets back to your charger. Another is a pistol that fires secondary slide rockets. All this to say that Gearbox seems to be on the right track with guns.
The characters are another important component of Borderlands 3. Everyone we've played so far, including Moze, Zane and Amara, has their own sensations and playing styles, focusing on roles like tank, thugs and others balanced somewhere in the middle. On top of that, another small problem with Borderlands 3 is that the enemies seem to recognize the character you are playing, which means that they will tell you different things.
Our main conclusion is that Borderlands 3 does not give the impression of being a massive departure for the Borderlands series, but rather an element both expanded and refined, especially with the shooter. Borderlands 3 will be released on September 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
