The biggest series of video games in the world started with a bang – or a buzz, really.
Playmaker Electronic Arts unveiled its much anticipated new adventure game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, at EV event EA Play Saturday. During a 15-minute demonstrationThe company showed how to control the Force by playing Cal Kestis, a Jedi in training. The character can push and pull objects, run on walls and launch his blue lightsaber like a boomerang.
Fighting with the lightsaber is "really satisfying", said Vince Zampella, head of EA Respawn Entertainment, who did the game.
The game led the Electronic Entertainment Expo, says E3, is next week in Los Angeles. Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft and Square Enix announce other important announcements about games.
This year E3 comes at an unusual time for the industry. While several major games are the subject of hype, the companies have said it would be a year of calm, just before the release of new consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
