This follows ESA’s confirmation that E3 2021 will still happen and that ESA will “transform the E3 experience for 2021”.
“We can confirm that we are transforming the E3 experience for 2021 and will soon share exact details on how we bring together the global video game community.” An ESA spokesperson previously said. “We have great conversations with publishers, developers and companies from all walks of life, and we look forward to sharing details of their involvement soon.”
Although many speculated this meant E3 would go digital amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ESA never explicitly said the live event was canceled.
A VGC report also detailed some E3 2021 presentation materials which revealed that this revamped show will include “multiple two-hour game partner showcases, an awards show, a June 14 preview night, and other smaller streams of game publishers, influencers and media partners. “
