The comments section of any online forum can be a real battleground, but it just might just save the life of a financial influencer.
TikToker @seattletechbro said he received a number of messages about his thyroid size when he started sharing videos in May 2021. Sure enough, something was going on.
“TikTok told me I might have cancer, and it looks like they are right,” he said in an article.
The 22-year-old said he took the tests because the comments he received made him “quite anxious”. Doctors discovered that part of the mysterious mass was cancerous, so they removed this section.
Although his recovery makes it difficult for him to speak, @seattletechbro wanted to thank his audience members who cared enough to reach out. He said it would take a little while because the process is “exhausting”.
Commentators continued the uplifting trend and showed a lot of love on the post.
“Man, the Internet can be such a great place sometimes,” one user said.
“I was nervous to reach out, but I’m glad I did. I wish you a speedy recovery, ”wrote another.
“TikTok saves lives,” remarked a third.
Back in 2019, the host of the HGTV show Flip or Flop, Tarek El Moussa, received advice from a fan who was a nurse pointing out a similar thyroid issue at @seattletechbro. He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and eventually recovered.
While the unfiltered thoughts of strangers online can sometimes be a bit of a burden, you never know when your life might be saved.
