Eagles’ Doug Pederson defends Carson Wentz after Brett Favre questions Nick Foles decision: ‘Carson is our guy’

Now, longtime former QB Brett Favre, a friend and former teammate of Eagles coach Doug Pederson, has suggested the team shouldn’t have chosen Wentz over former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles . But Pederson was adamant in defending Wentz when questioned about Favre’s comments on Wednesday, saying “Carson is our guy.”

Favre, who has voiced his opinion before, has always called Wentz a “great quarterback” with good potential, but he doubled down on his plea for Foles in an appearance Tuesday on ESPN’s “First Take”, suggesting that the Eagles should have kept the heroic save rather than reducing the offense to No.11. This prompted reporters to assess Pederson’s response, given that the coach has long hailed Favre as a close friend, without talk about the QB comparable to Carson Wentz. And while the Eagles coach has twice said he respects Favre’s opinion and doesn’t want to elaborate further, a third question on the subject got him talking.
