Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been a full participant in training this week and that has led to speculation that he will make his first appearance of the 2020 season against the Giants on Sunday.
Jeffery arrived at camp after returning from a foot injury and developed a calf injury as he tried to get back into the lineup. These evils conspired to keep him on the sidelines and Eagles head coach Doug Pederson did not confirm he will play at a press conference on Friday.
Pederson said the Eagles “have a plan” to bring Jeffery into the roster. He did not detail that plan, but said it “will take time” before Jeffery is at full speed due to his extended layoff.
“As a staff, we have to be smart if he is ready to go. I don’t want to physically crush Alshon, ”Pederson said, via Zach Berman of TheAthletic.com.
Running back Miles Sanders is due Sunday and Pederson has indicated that right tackle Lane Johnson will play, so they will bring some players back on offense even if they decide not to bring Jeffery back this weekend.
