The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a multitude of injuries among key members of their attack Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in the 24-20 loss, spending part of the game with just two wide receivers and a tight end available. This is not the ideal situation for head coach Doug Pederson or the quarterback of the Carson Wentz franchise.
Pederson said that he had not yet had his very vague medical meeting on the Eagles' injuries during his press conference on Monday, but that he would have updates later on Monday, and that he revealed information on players that were not available in the first quarter of last year. Sunday's match
DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery
Several reports were published on Jackson, which aggravated a groin injury in the first half of Sunday's game. By John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Jackson hopes to play Sunday after playing 11 strikes against the Falcons without any goal. Jeffery has a wounded calf, but Pederson hinted that it was not too serious.
"If it was a must-[win] play, the playoffs, I think that they would try to dump it, but it's hard to say, "said Pederson.
Dallas Goedert
Goedert aggravated a calf injury during the pre-season and he was unable to go, leaving the Eagles with only one tight end in good health. Zach Ertz played all the clichés of a match for the first time in his career.
"We rated Dallas, obviously he was feeling something, so we evaluated him before the game," Pederson said. "I just decided to hold him back at that time."
The Eagles had to run "11" personnel throughout the match with only one end tight in the lineup, which affects the game plan with Pederson adjusting on the fly.
"It affects a lot – if you were looking at my list of appeals this morning you would see a lot of scratching on plays and different things," Pederson said. "One thing I said after the match, it's also with [Eagles offensive coordinator] Mike Groh, [Eagles offensive line/run game coordinator] Jeff Stoutland and the offensive staff making the necessary adjustments and coaching these young players, Mack Hollins, J.J. [Arcega-Whiteside].
"And what's interesting, if you watch the match as we did this morning, I mean, Zach [Ertz] tell the guys where to go. Nelly [Nelson Agholor] says we are moving guys. Our plays are moving and we put guys in positions that did not train during the week and still had a chance at the end of the game. I took the lead and I had a chance. "
Tim Jernigan
There are reports that Jernigan will be absent four to six weeks with a broken foot. Per Clark, it's a small crack and will not require surgery. Pederson feared that Jernigan's injury was the worst thing.
"I did not have this medical meeting, so I do not know exactly," Pederson said. "I know that he was seen in a trunk, I think after the match, but until I receive notice, I still do not know what's going on."
Corey Clement
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports Clement is "probably out a week or two" after having an MRI on his injured shoulder.
