A day after Lane Johnson did a few media tours and gave a very positive first review of head coach Nick Sirianni, a report surfaced claiming his views on the new head coach are not shared by all his teammates.
And Johnson doesn’t have it.
On NFL Network (the same channel where Johnson made the glowing remarks), former NFL player Michael Robinson said he knows some Eagles players are skeptical of the first-year head coach.
“I’m not going to say names, but I know guys in this dressing room who question this guy and they wonder if he can really lead this team,” said Robinson. “And me personally, my personal thoughts on that, maybe Howie Roseman wanted to put someone, a yes, as head coach. Because Doug Pederson didn’t want to do things his own. way. And so he wanted to put a yes in it. At least, that’s what it looks like to me.
After seeing the Eagles deal with many anonymous leaks and stories over the past few years, Johnson has had enough.
Remember, Sirianni hasn’t coached a game yet and the Eagles didn’t even have an official OTA or mandatory minicamp this spring. So if some players question it, they do it before Sirianni has even led a single mandatory practice.
Whenever there is a story like this, it’s important to remember that there are a lot of different people with different perspectives in an NFL locker room. Right now there are 90 guys on the team. So the idea that the 90 is going to be completely sold on the new head coach is wishful thinking.
For what it’s worth, players have talked a lot about Sirianni in interviews and that includes some players who played for him in Indianapolis. At least Johnson seems to really like the new head coach.

“The first thing he happened and did was he took control of the team. I think he created a lot of energy. It’s fun every day. . During practice, there’s always kind of a competitive period. Sometimes even the coaches go there too, so that’s what I love about that. Getting into the building, man, that was really cool But right now we’re learning about a new offense, we’re trying to move him forward, and that’s really where we are but so far he’s taken control of the team and he’s commanding a lot of respect. “
