Eagles lift Sua Opeta to roster ahead of Cowboys game

The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t temporarily bred any of their practice players for their first two games, but they opted to do so before their Monday night football game of Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles have officially announced that they have raised second-year guard Sua Opeta to the active roster. Opeta is one of four players on the practice squad the Eagles used protection on earlier this week.

Opeta’s rise comes after the Eagles placed starting right guard Brandon Brooks in the injured reserve. The team clearly felt the need for more offensive depth of the line.

Landon Dickerson will make his first NFL start at right guard in place of Brooks. Nate Herbig is the best backup keeper, although Opeta offers another option. Other depth options include Brett Toth (mostly tackles but took a few guard reps in the summer) and Jack Anderson (recently signed the Buffalo Bills practice squad).

Opeta will return to the practice squad after Monday’s game.
